Alliance of Pan American Round Tables
The Alliance of Pan American Round Tables (AMRP) was formed in Mexico City, during the first State Convention of Pan American Round Tables organized by the Table of Mexico. Officials and members of the Boards of the United States, Costa Rica, Brazil, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Chile, Colombia and Peru attended, and there arose the need to form a governing body that would bring together all the Boards of the countries present there.
Considering that we had to have a name that would identify us as the governing body, the Director of the San Antonio Table, Mrs. Ruth Coy, suggested the name “Alliance of Pan American Round Tables” being approved by all and the Motto that unites us is “One For All and All For One”, “One For All and All For One”
The Alliance was formally established on October 27, 1944, in which the first general director, Mrs. Katherine J. Stone Robinson, a close friend of Florence Terry Griswold, was elected, serving in the position for 3 years.
Being the San Antonio Table in the United States, where the Pan American Movement began and the Mexico City Table where the Alliance was established and the first to be founded outside of American territory, is the reason why the Shield of the Alliance has the Flags of the United States and Mexico in the center. Additionally, in 2005 she was named “Dean of Latin America.”
The Alliance of Pan American Round Tables was officially registered by the Organization of American States as a Civil Society, in 2001 with resolution 759, under the management of the Secretary General of the OAS. Cesar Gaviria.
This was achieved thanks to the efforts made by Mrs. Fabiola Chiriboga of the Washington Board, Mrs. Helena Torres Muga Richards of the Los Gatos Board and Mrs. Luchy Peña de Elías, General Director 2000-2002. Since then, it has participated in several activities, such as: General Assemblies, Hemispheric Forums, Summit of the Americas, Conferences and Regional Forums.
Currently, the Alliance is made up of 196 Tables and 19 Youth Groups, with a total of 4,549 members.
The general director is Mrs. Jani Marichal de Mendoza of the Mesa de Puebla AC México.
The Pan American Woman 2021 is Mrs. María Elena Caldera de Arana de la Mesa of Managua, Nicaragua.
